We started taking vehicles to Joe's when we first started looking for used vehicles on Craigslist. First Experience with Joe's: We drop of an early 2000's Subaru Outback for pre-purchase inspection. The inspection came back with enough repairs needed that it would have put us well above blue book if we purchased it and had the work done. Knowing nothing about cars, it would have been easy for Lance to persuade me into purchasing it and then had us get the work done at Joe's. Instead he came back with his honest opinion and we didn't purchase the vehicle. He charged us the typical $100 inspection fee. Before leaving, he provided us with some tips on surviving in the used-car market. Second Experience with Joe's: Subaru #2 in the shop for inspection. It's an '09 Forester w/ ~100k. This time we got the inspection done elsewhere as we wanted to buy same-day and Joe's was slammed. We decide to purchase the vehicle so we get a few quotes before dropping the ~$2k on a head gasket and timing belt. Joe's gave me a better quote than a few other places I checked. We took the car in. It ended up being in the shop for a few days longer than originally quoted. A few other things came up during the time it was in the shop. Lance was in contact throughout the process so I could make informed decisions on how much money I wanted to put into other issues. When we came back to pick up the car, Lance provided us with a detailed breakdown of how much was spent on each part as well as on service. The car has been running great since. The Good Price - Their prices were competitive and seemed to be better than other places I checked. Honesty - They give you honest opinions. Opinion that benefit you; not them. Transparency - The transparency on pricing breakdowns and changes it pricing is huge for me. The Bad Time Management - This doesn't really bother me too much. It's hard to make accurate time commitments and I would rather have them not cut corners and take the time they need. Conclusion: I'll continue to take my vehicle to Joe's and would recommend it to a friend. The main selling point for me if the transparency and the fact that they are cognizant of customers preference on pricing breakdowns, calls if things change in the vehicle status, pricing changes, etc. I will update this review if anything changes.
